Valve released an update on december 8 for CSGO, introducing the new R8 Revolver that sparked a lot of attention in the Counterstrike community.
Valve's official description of the R8 Revolver:
Here are the new changes to the Competitive gameplay:
Valve also added a few things into the game that everyone likes, such as:
They nerfed the R8 again in the following update, after a few to many complaints about it. The community seemed to be in a lot of doubt after the update.
Valve's input and update details the 10th of December:
My own opinion:
Seems like a good idea to make some new weapons into the game to make it new again.
Ive only played a single casual game where I tried the R8 and couldnt really do much with it; Yet.
Although, its very much like the Deagle but with a slower firing time on the single shot option.
The overall update really messed with my ability to shoot with the greater rifles such as M4A1 or the AK-47. Its a good thing they are trying to make the community happy and up to date with their thoughts and updates. Might be in a professional way they decide to do it but Im still glad that they try.
Valve released an official apology for their mistakes the 15th.

- Adjusted recovery time on the AK47, M4A4, and M4A1-S assault rifles to reduce the range at which spraying is preferable to tapping/bursting.
- Increased move inaccuracy on pistols: Elites, Fiveseven, Glock, P2000, P250, Tec9, USP, CZ75a.
- Added team timeouts to Competitive Matchmaking, which can be called with a vote. Default is 60 seconds, set by mp_team_timeout_time.
Valve also added a few things into the game that everyone likes, such as:
- The opportunity to send your friends some gifts.
- The new Revolver Case.
- New sticker capsules.
- And service medal for 2016.
- And of course the annual holiday cheer.
