Shoutbox activity - Alternate way to earn Rep

Hello.

First let me just start off by stating that there is no bias in my suggestion which may seem given my regularity in the shoutbox.
Now, I really liked the new 'Thanks' system put in place for the past couple of weeks which has clearly worked as I've been seeing new faces in the shout box and more activity from older veteran members around the forums itself.
I suggest recognising members activity in the shout box and rewarding the same with reputation points which would be automatically given upon completion of criteria. To avoid abuse and make rep too easily available the rewarded reputation would be minute and time consuming compared to contributing and earning rep the traditional way, through forum posts. I have come up with the following conditions:

- 3 Rep earned every 300 shouts.
- No rep given for the first 300 shouts, only thereafter.
- Member cannot earn more than 6 rep a week regardless of total shouts during that time period.
- System will not retroactively award reputation.

I strongly believe this would be a great addition to the Thanks system in providing incentive for being more active on OC. I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this system.
